Speaker System 2504

This custom three way speaker for Moth Listening Bar is based off of the classic Klipsch Cornwall typology, namely a big underdamped bass box with a 15” direct radiator, and horn loaded midrange/tweeter.
Having listened to a few Cornwall’s, I was drawn to the bass tone that could only be achieved by a large woofer in an even larger box, but the classic K75 and K700 horns suffered from a distinctly screaming horn coloration.
Here I’ve swapped the midrange for a large format Altec 511B, chosen for it’s s
mooth, lifelike mids with wide dispersion and extreme dynamic range. Mounted on a custom 3D printed stand and designed so you can adjust the vertical angle.
The tweeter is of my own design, modeled on a modified Le Cleac’h curve. Here I’ve adjusted the vertical dimensions to reduce reflections off the ceiling, and to match the directivity of the Altec horn. It was 3D printed with  50% infill to combat any resonance issues, sanded and coated with epoxy until smooth.
